Bring It Up campaign aimed to boost boosters

Transcript

A public campaign is underway to promote getting Covid booster shots.

Nathan Gotsch: It’s so important for people to get boosters because it doubles your protection against Omicron. And that’s the thing that we’re seeing right now, the infections that are spreading across Allen County and Northeast Indiana.

That’s Fort Wayne native Nathan Gotsch, director of Bring It Up, an organization encouraging people to get booster shots, then bring it up to their friends.

Gotsch: If it’s been a few months since you’ve gotten your shots, your immunity might be down to forty percent, but if you get boosted, it’s going to go up to eighty percent. And so based off of that data, that’s why we’re really encouraging people to go get boosted and then, again, to talk to their friends to do the same.

Gotsch works with a local advisory board made up of leaders from Fort Wayne’s health and civic community, including Mayor Tom Henry.

Gotsch: “They see the need in the community and they’re really motivated and they are behind our message of getting people to talk to their friends and neighbors – people they already know – and encourage them to do this, and answer their questions, because a lot of people do have questions about it, and we want to help them answer those questions.

If you have questions on getting a vaccine booster, learn more at bringitup.org, also vaccines.gov, and as always, talk to your pharmacist or doctor for more information.

I’m Larry Bower, WBCL News.
